My Autobiography From learning to read, write and draw as a young child to currently pursuing a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, learning has always been a significant part in my life. Thinking back from where I am today, it is overwhelming to think about the learning journey I went through. I was always surrounded by people who loved art in my family, starting from my mother to my sister and cousins who guided me to go towards art. At the elementary level, I was mostly exposed to teacher-centered teaching. The teacher used traditional methods such as chalk and conversation methods to teach us. As students, we did not have many opportunities to develop other skills that we might have. The teacher used the traditional method to explain each concept and we learned by rote learning too. At that time, our only resources were teachers and textbooks. For art also, we always used to copy artworks from books. There were no outdoor activities and creative work like crafts.  Com...

At start i found it very complex to build in the app but while creating several screen, it became easy enough to understand how an app could facilitate teaching and learning.  The purpose of this app is to facilitate Art Students to learn about colour. Using various images will help them see and understand its different properties and in which color theory they are categorised in. More, students will be able to learn key words and obtain feedback from wrong answers. The MIT APP contain simple questions, images, labelling and so on to test the students knowledge and their level of understanding. This way while being at home or even when there is online teaching, the students may easily get access to the app using their mobile phone.  Cha...

Technological Tools for LSEN Students ( 4- Gamification)

Image
(4- Gamification) Gamification  involves applying game mechanics and game design techniques to non-game contexts like the lesson in a classroom.  Gamification can help bridge that learning gap. Having a collaborative component can help those with learning differences contribute without all the pressure of achievement or failure falling onto them alone. Flexible pathways to goals can help these types of students succeed, where a strict single curriculum might not accommodate them. Often, gamification can allow a student to move forward through the material at their own customized pace. Benefits of Gamification The benefits of gamification are plenty, but the biggest benefit is centered on student motivation. The more motivated a student is, the more diligently they'll work, which leads to higher achievements.   Student confidence is linked to success, and game concepts such as role-playing can bring shy students out of their shell. Gamified platforms often allow for...

Technological Tools for LSEN Students (1 - Digitalisation)

  1. (Digitalisation) - Use of Tablets/ Touchscreen Computers Importance of Technology. Technology use has become as standard in today’s classrooms as it has throughout every other aspect of our lives.  Technology has always been designed to make the user’s tasks easier to complete.  For students with developmental and learning disabilities, the need for technological assistance in education is even greater.  Technology in special education can help these disabled students keep up with their peers to the extent possible and prepare for future success. Tablets/ Touchscreen Computers As an educator to be, i would implement using tablets in my class as one of the most awesome things about this tech is that i can plan my lesson well to classroom management.  I recognize that tablets can be prohibitively expensive for  students. However, new advances in tech are bringing down prices, and the government tried to implement the use of tablet in school.  Tablet...
